Stafford, my least favourite venue of the show circuit I think; as usual it was very noisy and very cold – and what’s more they ran out of egg custards in the café, unforgivable! Nice to say it was a very good day for our breed though as you’ll see.
Starting with the breed judging under Breed Specialist Ruth Corkhill, she chose Karvo & Saloo’s BLAKENS LOOK THE PART as her Dog CC and BOB. This two year old dog is being campaigned in the UK this year by his breeder Jackie Phillips on behalf of his overseas owners; he’s by Ch Blakens I Look To You out of Ch Blakens Sugar Candy Kisses. Ruth’s Reserve Dog CC was Cathy Thompson Morgan’s BELLEVILLE MAJOR KEY, signalling the start of a very good show for the Belleville kennel. “Freddie” is by Belleville Slip Stream out of Belleville Keynote. Both top puppy spots went to Belleville as well, eleven month old litter mates BELLEVILLE JUST A MINUTE (Trooper) was Best Dog Puppy and BELLEVILLE JUST SO Best Bitch Puppy, with the dog taking the Best Puppy overall. They are by Ch Watercroft Calling Time out of Ch Belleville Just Magic. Not content with that though, Trooper went on to take Puppy Group 1 and Reserve Best Puppy in Show, as well as winning the Puppy Dog Stakes class – something tells me his star is in the ascendency! Not to be outdone, kennel mate BELLEVILLE IN THE BLACK (Rita) showed her way to her first CC from the Limit Class. She is by Ch Belleville Seduction out of Ch Allright Black Bess. Ruth Gee’s Watercroft kennel did not miss out completely though, taking the Reserve Bitch CC with CH WATERCROFT PINK FIZZ.
Karen Hurrion’s “Crumble” CH VALENTINE’S CHERRY CRUMBLE put in her usual energetic performance to take the Best Veteran spot.
Outside of the breed judging and those results already mentioned above, there was plenty more to celebrate: Di Jenkins’ CH KINSRIDGE WITTY BANTER won the Champion Stakes Class, closely followed in second place by Ruth Gee’s CH WATERCROFT CALLING TIME. Di also had success in the Minor Puppy Dog Stakes class, taking the top spot with seven month old KINSRIDGE CULTURE CLUB (by Yarrow Venerie Christmas Cracknor out of Kinsridge Club Classic) and in the Yearling Stakes with a second place for KINSRIDGE CHITCHAT (by Ch Kinsridge Back Chat out of Kinsridge Shabby Chic).
