It has been some time since the last show on 26th October, until this final championship show on 10th December of the LKA which was held at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham. The terrible weather caught several people by surprise and resulted in a decimation of entries for Andrew Gullick to judge. 33 dogs were entered with 21 absentees. Congratulations to those who actually made it there and home afterwards – the car park at the NEC was covered in snow by the end of the show, and it was not an easy journey home.
For once there were more dogs than bitches present – 8 dogs but just 4 bitches. The one class with real competition was for Puppy Dog, which produced the CC, BP and the RCC winner; This was the culmination of an exception year for Diane Jenkins’ KINSRIDGE WITTY BANTER as he also has won 2 RCCs, a Reserve Best Puppy in Show, has twice won PG1 and also been a PG2. ‘Norris’ has been going great guns this season, his sire is Kinsridge Quo Vadis, a son of Nor/Swe Ch Kinsridge Quids In, the litter brother of Ch Kinsridge Cash Back, and his dam is Ch Kinsridge Gung Ho – and she has already produced Ch Kinsridge Back Chat and Kinsridge Hey Ho, a PG1 winner in 2016.
Ruth Gee made her journey worthwhile when WATERCROFT POP PICKER won the bitch CC, although there were only 4 bitches in the line-up, none of whom had met any previous competition in the classes. But she has already earned her dog biscuits as the dam of a litter of four amongst whom is another of 2017’s promising puppies, Watercroft Pop Corn, with a PG2 win to her name. She is by Ch Blakens Pay Back out of Ch Watercroft Top Of The Pops.
The Dog RCC was 2nd in the puppy class, WATERCROFT CALLING TIME, he is by Ch Strathinver Sea The Stars out of Watercroft Top Tipple (Ch Kinsridge Top Gun – Watercroft Hot Cake). He has 2 RCCs, a Puppy Group 1 and a Puppy Group 2 on his record. Ruth has another Puppy Group 2 winner in her kennel in Watercroft Gold Dust, so competition next year could be quite fierce.
Cathy Thompson-Morgan’s BELLEVILLE OVATION was the Bitch RCC winner; she has one CC and 2 RCCs to her tally this year. She was sired by Allright Highland Moon, imported from Frauke Hinsch in Germany and he also has blood lines from Denmark and the USA in his pedigree; her dam is Belleville Constellation (Kreatin He’s No Angel ex Ch Belleville Intuition).
