L K A is the final show of the season, held in the NEC in Birmingham; this year Norfolk breeder and exhibitor, Diane Jenkins judged the breed on Sunday 13th December. It is also and the last chance for this year’s crop of puppies to make their debut, sadly very few puppies have been appearing during the year, only four males and six females appeared today. A total of 14 dogs were entered with 4 absentees, including 3 puppies, but there was much hotter competition amongst the 27 bitches who were entered with only 3 absentees.

Winning his 11th CC and Best of Breed was this year’s top male CH BLAKENS PAY BACK, owned and bred by Jackie Phillips – his sire is Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Blakens Party Girl. In most years he would have garnered enough points to be called the top winner, as he has almost twice as many points as his nearest male rival, but he has to concede by more than a hundred points on the Club List to the Top Bitch this year, CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP

Making an impact at only his second championship show was Mrs Dot Britten’s KRISMA DARK N’STORMY, a black & tan youngster of 8. months, who is also by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Ch Kinsridge Maid In Manhattan for published on http://www.norfolkterrierclub.co.uk/showscene2015.htm

Krisma. He won the Reserve Dog CC and Best Puppy. Dot’s day got even better when her bitch KRISMA NIP IN THE AIR won her first Bitch CC; only lightly shown this year, she is yet another Ch Kinsridge Cash Back offspring, but she is out of Krisma Nip In The Bud, herself a daughter of Krisma NipNTuck – how many more Nips are waiting in the wings?

Mrs Kate Tate and Andrew Gullick’s JAEVA HELLS FIRE won the Bitch RCC, she was bred by Martin Phillips by Ch Jaeva Cufflink out of Ch Jaeva Hells Fury – exploring her pedigree she follows a hellish past with her tail female relations of Jaeva Helfa Leather, Ch Hell To Play at Jaeva, Jaeva Hell-Maker and back to Ch Jaeva Hells Bells. She won the bitch CC at East of England in July this year under Patsy Hollings.

The Norfolk Terrier Club of GB’s Christmas Open Show was held on Saturday 5th December, returning again to the same venue as for the Spring Show, the Bugbrooke Sports & Community Centre in Northamptonshire. The rather meagre entries for a club show had 15 dogs on paper for 10 dog classes, but these were depleted by 4 absentees, the lower classes particularly badly hit. Bitches had a better entry with 27 in the catalogue, with 8 missing. 15 Exhibitors in total actually showed with their dogs.

The Committee had gone to a lot of effort to make this a special show, producing their home made mince pies and wine and the catering was much appreciated too, and there were also generous prizes donated for the top winners. See results for breeding

The MCNTA held their championship show on Sunday 8th November, and the judge, Mrs Norma Newton drew one of the best entries of this year to the show held at Weedon Bec Village Hall, in Northamptonshire.

There was a very nice atmosphere to the show, and the committee provided delicious food through the day. It was good too to see more puppy dogs entered, as there have been very few youngsters appearing this year. Altogether there were 19 dogs on paper with 13 present; bitches were more numerous with 37 in the catalogue with 23 actually in the ring in the various classes.

At her final show of the year CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP confirmed her top position by winning Best of Breed for the 11th time, she has also won a total of 18 CCs and 5 group placings, including two Group Ones. She is a repeat mating to Ch Kinsridge Top Score by Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip – Martha is her final daughter in her last litter; the maxim ‘breed the best to the best and hope for the best’ has been born out in this instance, as Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip now has bred six champion offspring in three countries, and Ch Kinsridge Top Gun has now sired eight champions also living in three countries.

Reserve Best In Show and the Bitch RCC winner was Ruth Gee’s CH WATERCROFT TOP TIA, her misfortune was to keep competing against her half sister, although she has managed to turn the tables enough to gain her precious 3rd CC.

She is out of Watercroft Hot Cake, but to her great credit she has managed to produce 2 litters and keep her enthusiasm for showing - and her figure.

Ruth though was delighted to win the Dog CC with CH WATERCROFT IN A PICKLE; he is by Strathinver Smart Enough (2 CCS) out of Watercroft Hot Love. He has been duelling throughout the season in the Open and Limit classes with Jackie Phillips’ CH BLAKENS PAY BACK (Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Blakens Party Girl) and this time he gained the upper hand with his 4th CC. Jackie Phillips’ dog has to fill the RCC spot this time.

However, from a much stronger entry of puppy dogs and puppy bitches, Jackie Phillips produced the Top Puppy in BLAKENS TOOTIE FRUITIE. Entirely homebred, she is by Ch Blakens Xpress Yourself out of Ch Blakens Sugar Candy Kisses.published on http://www.norfolkterrierclub.co.uk/showscene2015.htm

Norfolk Terriers were judged by Mr Stuart Plane at Midland Counties Canine Society Show on the final day, Sunday 25th October; the breed was first in the ring but they had the luxury of extra time in bed as clocks had gone back an hour. The show is held at the Royal County Showground just outside Stafford. There was reasonable entry of 37 on paper, with 14 dogs and only one absentee, but 8 bitches failed to appear from the 23 printed in the catalogue.

Winning his second CC today was Diane Jenkins’ junior dog KINSRIDGE BACK CHAT and he had to defeat his top winning kennel mate CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP to become Best of Breed; he also was in the final selection in the group. He is by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Ch Kinsridge Gung Ho, another Ch Kinsridge Top Gun daughter.

His half brother, also by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back was Jackie Phillips’ CH BLAKENS PAY BACK – he is out of Blakens Party Girl, but Jackie’s puppy bitch was Best Puppy today from 4 puppy classes, BLAKENS TOOTIE FRUITIE, who is homebred from two of her recent champions, Ch Blakens Xpress Yourself and Ch Blakens Sugar Candy Kisses.

Unfortunately Midland Counties doesn’t have any puppy group judging.

The Top Ti’s continued to dominate the bitch line up. Diane Jenkins once more coming out on top, winning her 18th CC with her CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP (Ch Kinsridge Top Gun x Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip); Ruth Gee’s recently crowned CH WATERCROFT TOP TIA (Ch Kinsridge Top Gun x Watercroft Hot Cake) had to fill the RCC spot once more.

After a weekend without a championship show, exhibitors returned to the fray on the Royal Welsh Show Ground at Builth Wells. Mrs Dot Britten (Krisma) judged the breed on Saturday 10th October. Dogs were in short supply with only 6 entered, however there was much more competition amongst the bitches with 30 entered with 6 absent.

Jackie Phillips’ CH BLAKENS PAY BACK won his 10th CC, he is by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Blakens Party Girl, he was joined by his half brother who won the RCC today, Diane Jenkins’ KINSRIDGE BACK CHAT, his dam is Ch Kinsridge Gung Ho, a Ch Kinsridge Top Gun daughter out of Foxhouse Funky Foxtrots to Kinsridge.

Best of Breed and the Bitch CC once more went to Diane Jenkins’ CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP (Ch Kinsridge Top Gun ex Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip) – this adds to her tally making it her 15th CC this year, plus another two won last year.

Repeating her success at the Club Show was Andrew Gullick & Kate Tate’s JAEVA HELLS FIRE with the bitch RCC. She has only once succeeded in getting her nose in front at East of England under Patsy Hollings. Bred by Martin Phillips she is by Ch Jaeva Cufflink out of Ch Jaeva Hells Fury.

Ruth Gee’s WATERCROFT POP PICKER also continued her winning streak with Best Puppy from the bitch class; she is by Ch Blakens Pay Back out of Ch Watercroft Top Of The Pops.

GORDENS BOY (Ch Belleville Angello x Foxhouse Film Star) owned by Mrs P Ward and Ms R Hamar harvested several points as he was unopposed in two dog classes and made up the numbers in other classes.published on http://www.norfolkterrierclub.co.uk/showscene2015.htm

Norfolk Terriers used to have CCs at Driffield, but these were withdrawn and now entries have plummeted., very disap-pointing for the judge, Mr Mike Vickers. Only three exhibitors turned up to carry the flag providing 6 entries, though he had last year’s top winner for his Best of Breed in Cathy Thompson-Morgan’s CH BELLEVILLE SEDUCTION to represent Norfolk Terriers in the Group judging on Saturday 3rd October. Cathy’s black & tan is by Ch Belleville Burning Passion out of Ch Belleville Intuition. She also won Best Bitch with another black & tan imported from Frauke Hinsch in Germany, ALLRIGHT BLACK BESS; she is a daughter of Fin Ch Heilurihännän Angel Cake (Fin Ch Jaeva Touch Of The Dutch x Ch Jaeva Fallen Angel); her dam is Allright Black Pepper a grand daughter of Ch Belleville Smart Alec.

Mary Atkinson won both Reserve Best Dog and Reserve Best Bitch with litter brother and sister. MOORTOP MARKS DELIVERY and MOORTOP JUST THE ONE; they are by her Blakens Sugar Candy Dips, a litter sister of Ch Sugar Candy Kisses, out of Moortop Again No Choice (Wharfvalley Diamond Bright at Moortop – Moortop Shandy Choice).

The Club Championship Show was held on Saturday 26th September, returning to Brackley Leisure Centre in Northamptonshire. Judging the breed was Mrs Lesley Crawley (Ragus), whose first Club Championship show judging appointment was in 1975, forty years ago. Several regular exhibitors were unable to attend so there was not as large an entry as usual at a Club show – 50 Norfolks only entered, 16 different males on paper with only 10 appearing in the classes, but bitches were more plentiful with 34 entries with 8 away. Entries generally this year at championship shows have been much lower unfortunately.

Firmly at the top of the tree as Best In Show was this year’s unassailable bitch CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP (Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip), she is a great credit to her owner, breeder and groomer, Diane Jenkins who has managed to preserve her élan, enthusiasm - and keep her in coat since Crufts in March. This was her 16th CC, the 14th this year.

Jackie Phillips’ CH BLAKENS PAY BACK also continued on his winning ways with the Dog CC. He is by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back, another son of Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip, so a nephew to ‘Martha’ out of Blakens Party Girl. This was his 9th CC this year Ruth Gee also did well with her kennel, winning the Dog RCC with black & tan WATERCROFT COIN A PHRASE, his first such award; he is another son of Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Watercroft Hot Love. Ruth also won Best Puppy with WATERCROFT POP PICKER, a red wheaten minor puppy bitch of 8 months by today’s Dog CC winner Ch Blakens Pay Back out of Ch Watercroft Top Of The Pops.

With no breeding connections to these four Norfolks, Martin Phillips, her breeder, showed JAEVA HELLS FIRE to win the Bitch RCC. She is currently in the ownership of Andrew Gullick and Kate Tate, and is by Ch Jaeva Cufflink out of Ch Jaeva Hells Fury. But to add one more relationship her Great Grandmother was today’s Best Veteran, CH HOBSONS CHOICE AT MOORTOP, who was making light of her 12 years with her equally agile Veteran owner, Mary Atkinson.

Darlington Dog Show Society follows a week after Richmond, but Norfolks were judged on the first day, Friday 18th September. Mr Garry Mason (Glenhafod) was judging the breed, he has owned Norwich for many years and bred a litter of Norfolks in his time. With several of our leading kennels based in Yorkshire, he drew an entry of 33 on paper, with all ten dogs and 18 bitches present. Winning his first CC and Best of Breed was Diane Jenkins’ KINSRIDGE BACK CHAT, who had had a very good career as a puppy winning three Puppy Group placings and has also won 3 RCCs this year. Still a junior he is by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Ch Kinsridge Gung Ho, a Ch Kinsridge Top Gun daughter.

Ruth Gee’s CH WATERCROFT IN A PICKLE won the RCC, he is by Strathinver Smart Enough out of Watercroft Hot Love. But her real cause for rejoicing was when her bitch, WATERCROFT TOP TIP won her crowning third CC after being bridesmaid for so long. She is by Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of W Hot Love’s litter sister, Watercroft Hot Cake. She had won her first CC from Mrs Dorothy Dorkins at the Club 50th Anniversary Show last September, and her second was at Bournemouth this summer under Mr Tom Johnston; she also has had 5 RCCs this year and won 2 last year. In her short life she has also managed to breed two litters including

Watercroft Dream Topping who won the RCC at Richmond recently. This win also means that Ch Kinsridge Top Gun has now sired 7 champions in his career at stud so far. The RCC in bitches went to this year’s unassailable Top Dog, CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP (Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip) owned by Diane Jenkins.

Best Puppy at only her second show was Jackie Phillips’ BLAKENS TOOTIE FRUITIE, and not only was she Best Puppy she then went on to the Puppy Group and won that too, under Mr Julien Barney. Homebred, she is bred from two of Jackie’s unrelated champions Ch Blakens Xpress Yourself (Ch Moortop No Choice x Vision Express at Blakens) and her dam is Ch Blakens Sugar Candy Kisses (Brenin Bazaar at Kinsridge out of Ch Vichea Pick And Mix).

Darlington also is generous in other ways. They have stakes classes for RCC winners, and our two representatives did very well in those too: CH WATERCROFT IN A PICKLE being 2nd in the RCC Dog stakes and CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP winning the RCC Bitch stakes.

Returning to the ring after producing 8 puppies was Karen Hurrion’s CH VALENTINES CHERRY CRUMBLE who won Group 4 in the Veteran Group from Mr Jeff Horswell. Karen also entered the Brace stakes with VILLASSA RIPPLE BY DESIGN and VILLASSA GOLD ‘N DELIGHT and won this, repeating her success with her two Norfolks at East of England in July.

Richmond follows a week after City of Birmingham on Saturday 12th September, and Mr David Saltmarsh (Pipridges) a long time Norfolk owner/breeder was judging today. It has now found a permanent home near Guildford at Losely Park.

The slight drizzle that started day did not cause any problems, as Richmond have the excellent in-and-out tents, and a stiff breeze dried up the grass and then the sun came out.

There was an entry on paper of 41, comprising 13 dogs with 3 absent, and 28 bitches with 7 missing. Jackie Phillips’ red dog CH BLAKENS PAY BACK repeated their City of Birmingham triumph with the Dog CC and Best of Breed,

To repeat his breeding he is by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Blakens Party Girl. The Dog RCC went to Cathy Thompson-Morgan’s black & tan CH BELLEVILLE SEDUCTION, last year’s Top Dog who has not been shown much this year. He is still under 3 years old, being born in October 2012 and is sired by her Ch Belleville Burning Passion out of Ch Belleville Intuition, who were both red in colour.

Diane Jenkins’ CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP continued to hold the top spot amongst the bitches (Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip). The bitch RCC went to Ruth Gee’s two year old WATERCROFT DREAM TOPPING by Strathinver Smart Enough out of Watercroft Top Tia. Ruth again won Best Puppy with her young bitch

City of Birmingham Canine Association’s Terrier day was on Saturday 5th September, when Mr Paul Wilkinson judged Norfolk Terriers. He drew a total entry of 32, consisting of 11 dogs with one absentee, and 21 bitches with just 3 absent. The venue is firmly established at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire.

Reversing last week’s results, Jackie Phillips’ CH BLAKENS PAY BACK was made Best of Breed this time after the Dog CC, but CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP continued to head the bitch line-up. The breeding of all five top winners is closely connected, as the Reserve Dog CC winner was KINSRIDGE BACK CHAT, and he shared the same sire as the Dog CC winner, both are sired by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back. Ch Blakens Pay Back is out of Blakens Party Girl, a Ch Jaeva For Petes Sake daughter, whereas Kinsridge Back Chat’s dam is Ch Kinsridge Gung Ho, another Ch Kinsridge Top Gun daughter.

Ch Blakens Pay Back in his turn was the sire of the new Best Puppy, the January born bitch WATERCROFT POP PICKER and she is out of Ch Kinsridge Top Gun’s daughter, Ch Watercroft Top Of The Pops.

To add to the connections, CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP and WATERCROFT TOP TIA are half sisters, both sired by Ch Kinsridge Top Gun, and Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip is the dam of both Ch Kinsridge Top Tip and Ch Kinsridge Cash Back. Got it?published on http://www.norfolkterrierclub.co.uk/showscene2015.htm

Terrier day at WKC, which was held at the Royal Welsh showground at Builth Wells, was on Saturday 22nd August. The breed judge was Mr Ken Bartlett, who drew an entry of 36 on paper, consisting of 12 dogs minus 3 absent, and 24 bitches with 7 absentees. It was raining first thing when everyone arrived so the judging took place indoors in a bright airy shed after the Norwich judging had finished; although the weather had cleared it was still very wet underfoot with lying grass in the outdoor rings.

Regaining the top spot again with Best of Breed and the Bitch CC was Diane Jenkins CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP, sired by Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip. Adding to the statistics on this bitch, this is the 13th CC for Martha, with 11 won this year, and her total of points on the Norfolk Terrier Club of GB point list is now over 200, with her nearest challenger Ch Blakens Pay Back on 90.

At the head of the line-up in the dog challenge was once more Jackie Phillips with CH BLAKENS PAY BACK making this his 6th CC of the year. He is by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Blakens Party Girl.

Winning the dog RCC at his first appearance at a championship show was Cathy Thompson-Morgan’s VILLASSA CRUMBLE’S GOLD, who was bred by Karen Hurrion but is sired by her Belleville Fly With Me, a dog by Ch Belleville Seduction out of the Ch Belleville Smart Alec daughter, Belleville Butterfly Kiss. He sired this litter before being exported last year to South Korea. The RCC winner is out of Ch Valentines Cherry Crumble, from her 3rd litter – she is the dam who recently produced 8 puppies in her last effort in April.

Ruth Gee’s WATERCROFT TOP TIA once more had to play bridesmaid to Ch Kinsridge Top Tip with the RCC, after being 2nd to her in the Open Class. She too is by Ch Kinsridge Top Gun but out of Watercroft Hot Cake, however she has also managed to produce 2 litters, her last puppies being born in January this year.

Andrew Gullick and Kate Tate’s ORISON MIDNIGHT DREAMER AT JAEVA also continued on her winning ways with Best Puppy for the 4th time – she was bred by Jane Lloyd by Fontanesi Diamond Geezer at Jaeva out of Rainbows End at Bannings.

This year terriers at Bournemouth were judged by Mr Tom Johnston on Monday 10th August, and he drew a very depleted entry, 6 dogs on paper, but only 3 turned up. Bitches were slightly better with 13 entered minus 5 absentees, which meant there was only one dog in Junior with two in Open, and 2 bitches in Puppy and Open, the rest alone in their class. Since moving from the New Forest to their new showground near Poole, entries have gone gradually down, as it is not an easy venue to reach, with only single carriageway ‘A’ roads for drivers travelling from the north of England for the last few miles. The carpark is over rough ground and uphill, with the wet weather tent at the furthest point from the entrance – and the heavens opened too for good measure.

The top winning names were reshuffled, with Jackie Phillips’ CH BLAKENS PAY BACK coming out on top of the pack this time, and he went on to win Group 4 from Mr Roger Thomas. This was his 5th CC, and he is by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Blakens Party Girl. RDC went to Ruth Gee’s CH WATERCROFT IN A PICKLE, by Strathinver Strictly Smart out of Watercroft Hot Love.

In bitches WATERCROFT TOP TIA gained her 2nd CC, she has been bridesmaid so often this year, but today gained the upper hand. She is by Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Watercroft Hot Cake, a red litter sister to black & tan Watercroft Hot Love.

Diane Jenkins’ CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP had to play second fiddle to her half sister with the RCC this time, her dam is Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip.

Andrew Gullick & Kate Tate’s ORISON MIDNIGHT DREAMER AT JAEVA won another Best Puppy award, which she has managed at all the shows she has attended so far. Paignton & District Fanciers Association has now found a regular home at the West Point Centre near Exeter. On Saturday 1st August Norfolks were judged by Mr Jeff Luscott. As holiday traffic and hold up on motorways can make the journey very long for most exhibitors, this year only 6 dogs and 12 bitches were present from an entry of 25. Campaigning dogs means many hours travelling and great stamina and expense for those who show their dogs, they earn all their points.

Again Diane Jenkins and CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP (Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip) were once more triumphant, and went on to do very well in the Terrier Group gaining Group 2 from Mr Stuart Plane (and with maybe slight relief that they were not faced with another 200 mile journey to return 2 days later).

Jackie Phillips and CH BLAKENS PAY BACK won the Dog CC this time – he is by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Blakens Party Girl and this was his fourth CC.

Winning the RDCC was Mary Atkinson’s junior dog MOORTOP MARKS DELIVERY. Home bred he is by her Blakens Sugar Candy Dips out of Moortop Again No Choice.

The bitch RCC was Ruth Gee’s WATERCROFT TOP TIA, who won her first CC at the NTC of GB’s 50th anniversary show last year. She is by Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Watercroft Hot Cake. She has also had two litters and is the dam of Ruth’s Watercroft Dream Topping.

Once again Diane Jenkins was to the fore with CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP Best of Breed, and they went on later to be placed Group 4 amongst the terriers which were judged byMr Tom Mather on a cold, wet afternoon.

Newly crowned CH WATERCROFT IN A PICKLE was Best Dog, and Ruth Gee also won Best Puppy with a six month old bitch WATERCROFT POP PICKER, who is by Ruth’s great rival in males this year, Ch Blakens Pay Back out of her Ch Watercroft Top Of The Pops

Reserve Best Dog making his first appearance since the Club show in 2014 was Andrea Smith’s JAVIDEL MAY JUST HAVE TOO who is a CC winner, year older, full brother to her black & tan Ch Javidel Definitely Maybe. They are both bred by Ch Belleville Angello out of Stridview Bluebell for Javidel.

Reserve Best Bitch went to Cathy Thompson-Morgan’s imported ALLRIGHT BLACK BESS, who was bred in Germany by Frauke Hinsch, by Fin Ch Heilurihännän Angel Cake (Fin Ch Jaeva Talk Of the Dutch x Ch Jaeva Fallen Angel); her dam is Allright Black Pepper, by Ger Ch Allright Ali Baba out of Allright Black Cherry, a Ch Belleville Smart Alec daughter.

East of England was held at Peterborough on Friday 10th July, and Norfolks were judged by Mrs Patsy Hollings. Congratulations to Ruth Gee and WATERCROFT IN A PICKLE* who won Best of Breed and his crowning 3rd CC. He is sired by Strathinver Smart Enough out of Watercroft Hot Love, a daughter of Ch Belleville Angello and Watercroft Hot Stuff who is behind so many of Ruth’s winners. He won his first CC under Bryan Claydon at Three Counties, and his 2nd last week at Windsor, so he is very much on a roll. Jackie Phillips’ CH BLAKENS PAY BACK was RCC to him again; he is sired by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Blakens Party Girl.

Changing places in bitches gave a first CC to Andrew Gullick and Kate Tate’s JAEVA HELLS FIRE, bred by Martin Phillips. Patsy Hollings has judged the breed on five previous occasions, and at every show she had given a CC to a Jaeva bred dog, and on one occasion both tickets went to a Jaeva. This bitch is just out of puppy classes, and won a RCC at Southern Counties when a puppy, and last week at Windsor. She is by Ch Jaeva Cufflink out of Ch Jaeva Hells Fury.

The RCC went to Diane Jenkins CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP, who has over 100 points more than her nearest rival on the Norfolk Terrier points list at this half way stage of the year, when 10 championship shows have been held.

Andrew Gullick newly combined ownership with Kate Tate to produce ORISON MIDNIGHT DREAMER with JAEVA to win Best Puppy again, and later they were successful in winning the first day’s competition for the Pup of the Year contest. She was bred by Jane Lloyd by Fontanesi Diamond Geezer at Jaeva out of Rainbows End at Bannings.

Windsor this year was held on Thursday 2nd July and it has become the tradition amongst Norfolk Exhibitors to hold a summer strawberry picnic, an idea started by Elisabeth Matell several years ago and now with other delicious things to eat, Pimms to drink with all the trimmings, and Di Jenkins brought champagne to celebrate her recent BIS win at Three Counties. The presence of several Norfolk owners from the continent made it extra special. The day before had been a record scorcher, but Thursday’s weather was much more reasonable, in fact it rained briefly at one point, so the in-and-out tent proved its worth. It was a lovely show to finish on for my last judging appointment.

Triumphant again with BOB was CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP who is so in tune with her owner and breeder, Diane Jenkins; she has been unbeaten in bitch classes this year, so far notching up 9 CCs plus 2 more from 2014 with 6 BoBs, and today she later added another Group 4 placing from David Winsley. She is sired by Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip.

The dog CC was a second such award for Ruth Gee’s WATERCROFT IN A PICKLE (Strathinver Smart Enough x Watercroft Hot Love), his first CC having been won at Three Counties, and there was hot competition for the RCC which went to Jackie Phillips’ CH BLAKENS PAY BACK sired by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Blakens Party Girl.

The bitch RCC went to Andrew Gullick & Kate Tate’s JAEVA HELLS FIRE, just out of puppy classes. Bred by Martin Phillips, she is one of the first daughters of Ch Jaeva Cufflink out of Ch Jaeva Hells Fury. Andrew Gullick also handled and now co-owns with Kate Tate the Best Puppy, ORISON MIDNIGHT DREAMER at JAEVA, who was bred by Jane Lloyd by Fontanesi Diamond Geezer at Jaeva, a Ch Kinsridge Top Gun son and a full brother to Ch Fontanesi Golden Chalice at Jaeva; she is out of Rainbows End at Bannings, a daughter of Brickin Smart Outlook.

BD: JACQUIDON TOUGH AS A NUT

RBD: MOORTOP MARKS DELIVERY

BB: WATERCROFT DREAM TOPPING

RBB: ORISON MIDNIGHT DREAMER

BP: WATERCROFT COIN A PHRASE

Terriers were judged at Blackpool on Friday 26th June, where the judge, Mr Kari Jarvinen from Finland drew an entry of 18, composed of 6 dogs with 2 absent and 10 bitches, with unfortunately only 5 appearing. Mrs Edna Darnell’s JACQUIDON TOUGH AS A NUT was Best of Breed and Best Dog; he is by Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Little Sniffer, who is by Masterful Lord, a Jaeva Gold Leaf son. RBD was Mary Atkinson’s Junior winner MOORTOP MARKS DELIVERY who is sired by Blakens Sugar Candy Dips out of Moortop Again No Choice.

Best Bitch was Ruth Gee’s WATERCROFT DREAM TOPPING who is by Strathinver Smart Enough (2CCs) out of Watercroft Top Tia (1CC), and the Reserve Best Bitch went to Jane Lloyd’s ORISON MIDNIGHT DREAMER (Fontanesi Diamond Geezer at Jaeva – Rainbows End at Bannings); she has since been transferred into the ownership of Andrew Gullick, who was showing her here, and Kate Tate, and ‘at JAEVA’ added to her name. Andrew later competed very successfully winning the Bitch Pup of the Year stakes on that day with her.

Best Puppy however went to Ruth Gee’s black and tan dog WATERCROFT COIN A PHRASE (Ch Kinsridge Cash Back x Watercroft Hot Love).

BORDER UNION

BCC CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP

RBCC: WATERCROFT TOP TIA

Best Puppy: STRATHINVER SEA THE STARS

All Norfolk exhibitors had to travel north for Border Union’s championship show on Saturday 20th June, a lovely show beautifully laid out when you finally arrive. Norfolk specialist Mrs Sherril Goodwin (Spitewinter) drew an entry of 10 dogs with 2 absent and 14 bitches with 3 absent: so 20 present brought by 9 exhibitors.

Returning to the ring in triumph after taking six weeks off was Cathy Thompson-Morgan’s black & tan CH BELLEVILLE SEDUCTION. Last year’s top winner, and Best of Breed at Crufts in March, he won another CC & Best of Breed to add to his tally – this makes his 12th CC with 10 BOBs. He is still only 2 years 8 months old and was sired by Ch Belleville Burning Passion before he went to live in Finland, out of

Ch Belleville Intuition – his pedigree contains so many of Cathy’s previous champions – of the 62 names on his 5 generation pedigree 42 are champions, and only 2, B Rendition and B Lace Petticoat in the first three generations were not made up.

Once again Diane Jenkins’ CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP won the bitch CC. She is having a remarkable run, 8 CCs so far this year with 2 won last year. She is a year younger than the dog, but both are October born; she is by last year’s top stud dog, Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip.

The dog RCC went to KINSRIDGE BACK CHAT by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Ch Kinsridge Gung Ho. He is only 13 months old, but has won 4 BP awards and 2 Puppy Group placings in his short career.

The bitch RCC was another Ch Kinsridge Top Gun sired daughter, WATERCROFT TOP TIA, owned and bred by Ruth Gee. She won the bitch CC at the Club’s 50th Anniversary Show last September.

Norma Newton produced a new puppy to win Best Puppy in STRATHINVER SEA THE STARS. By her dual CC winner, Strathinver Smart Enough out of Strathinver Reddy To Star, a Ch Belleville Smart Alec daughter, he was born at the end of November.

What a result! The first Norfolk Terrier for 10 years to go Best In Show at a general championship show. Huge congratulations to Diane Jenkins and CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP.

To start at the beginning on Thursday, 4th June specialist Mr Bryan Claydon (Brymarden) judged the breed; He drew an entry of 14 dogs with 3 absent and 26 bitches with 8 absentees. Three Counties at Malvern was very much the home show of Elisabeth Matell and Joy Taylor, and exhibitors traditionally used to arrive on the doorstep of Standhall Cottage after judging, I am sure Elisabeth and Joy’s spirits were cheering from above.

It was also an exciting day for Ruth Gee, whose WATERCROFT IN A PICKLE won his first CC, the first step on the ladder after so many near misses. He won 5 RCCs last year, and has had 2 more this year. He was two years old in February; his breeding is Strathinver Smart Enough out of Watercroft Hot Love.

The Reserve CC in Dogs went to another successful dog from Di Jenkins’ kennel, KINSRIDGE BACK CHAT, now competing in Junior Classes after several Best Puppy awards, he is sired by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Ch Kinsridge Gung Ho (Ch Kinsridge Top Gun – Foxhouse Funky Foxtrots to Kinsridge).

The Reserve CC in Bitches went to Cathy Thompson-Morgan’s BELLEVILLE SUMMER CRUNCH who will be two years old in August, she is sired by Jacquidon Tough As A Nut and her dam is Ch Belleville Honey Nut Crunch.

Continuing her winning streak also was JAEVA HELLS FIRE winning Best Puppy, and she went on to win Puppy Group 4 later in the afternoon in the ownership of Andrew Gullick and Kate Tate, though bred by Martin Phillips. Mr Bill Browne-Cole judged both Terrier groups, and there was great excitement when CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP won her second Group 1 in successive shows – actually within a week. They had to return for the final judging by Mrs Ann Arch on Sunday, and but still a cheer went up from her supporters, when she won the top accolade.

CH/AM CH CRACKNOR CAUSE CELEBRE was the last Norfolk to win Best In Show, that was at Crufts of course, but before that Martin Phillips & Andrew Gullick with the Ch Richell Claret son, CH JAEVA DUTCH GOLD had been Group 1 and BIS at Darlington in 2000 (judge Mr Frank Kane) and a year later in 2001 repeated this feat at Birmingham National, where Mr Albert Wight was the BIS judge – he also won another Group 1 at Richmond.

Further back in the mid 90s there was the incomparable bitch of Elisabeth Matell's, CH CRACKNOR CALL MY BLUFF, the first Norfolk ever to win a Best In Show which she did at both Bath and Southern Counties in 1996. She is still the breed CC record holder with her 27th CC won at the Club’s Millennium Show; in 1996 she was the top winning bitch of all breeds, and Top Terrier in “Dog World” Top Dog competition. She came from the first litter of Hatchwoods Madrigal by Cracknor Close Call born 5th March 1993, whereas CH AM/CH CRACKNOR CAUSE CELEBRE also out of Hatchwoods Madrigal was from her last mating to Ch Richell Claret and born on 9th July 1998.

Southern Counties have now adopted Newbury Showground for their championship show, Terriers being judged on Saturday 30th May. One problem for exhibitors was that there were major road closures involving the M4 and A34 junction, so lengthy detours were set up for the weekend to enable people to get to the show. Mr Albert Wight judged the breed and for once we were first in our ring which was actually close to our benches instead of some distance away as is usual at this show. He drew and entry of 18 dogs minus 4 absentees and 27 bitches with 7 absent.

Diane Jenkins had a wonderful day as CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP following a Best of Breed win went on to the Terrier Group to finish Group One. Diane was concentrating so hard on Martha’s final stand, that the Group Judge, Mr Johan Juslin had to go right up and touch her to get her attention! Martha is by Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip. Congratulations go too to Jackie Phillips on winning the vital 3rd CC with her BLAKENS PAY BACK; he won his first CC this year at National Terrier under Mr Dan Ericsson, a Swedish Judge, and at the end of April at WELKS from Mr David Winsley where he was also Best of Breed. He is a son of Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Blakens Party Girl, a Ch Jaeva For Petes Sake daughter.

Diane Jenkins also won the dog RCC with KRISMA FLASHBACK TO KINSRIDGE, another young son of Ch Kinsridge Cash Back, but bred by Dot Britten out of her Ch Kinsridge Maid In Manhattan for Krisma.

JAEVA HELLS FIRE won both the Reserve Bitch CC and then Best Puppy. Bred by Martin Phillips, shown by Andrew Gullick she is in the joint ownership now with him and Kate Tate. She is from one of the first litters of Ch Jaeva Cufflink out of Ch Jaeva Hells Fury, whose tail female line leads back to other Jaeva ‘Hells’ – Jaeva Helfa Leather, Ch Hell To Play at Jaeva, Jaeva Hell-Maker and Ch Jaeva Hells Bells.

Best Puppy: JAEVA HELLS FIRE

Bath Canine Society owns their showground and many improvements have been made to their site over the years which makes it a very attractive venue Terrier Day was Friday 22nd May; unfortunately Norfolks lost CCs there some time ago. Judging Norfolk Terriers was Mrs Becky Baldwin who drew an entry of 7 dogs with 2 absent and 15 bitches with 4 absentees. Her choice for Best of Breed after winning Best Bitch was Ruth Gee’s WATERCROFT DREAM TOPPING, a red bitch who will be two years old in August, sired by Strathinver Smart Enough out of her CC winner, Watercroft Top Tia. Ruth also won Reserve Best Dog with her black & tan puppy WATERCROFT COIN A PHRASE, a son of Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Watercroft Hot Love.

Reserve Best Dog was Mrs Bev Ackling’s RUBY RUEBEN, who has 2 CCs to his name. Bred by Mrs Nevill-Gliddon, he is by Jaeva Gorden Bennet out of Jaeva Bee-Good.

Patsy Green travelled down from Yorkshire to win the Reserve Best Bitch with WHARFVALLEY WILD CHILD who she bred by Ch Penmire Wild Bramble by Brickin out of Wharfvalley Diamond Diva, a litter sister of Ch Wharfvalley Diamond Star and Wharfvalley Diamond Bright at Moortop.

Following two excursions to Scotland the previous weekend to contest her Norfolk class and the following day the show final of the Pup of The Year contest, Kate Tate and Andrew Gullick’s much travelled JAEVA HELLS FIRE was Best Puppy here today. Bred by Martin Phillips, she is by Ch Jaeva Cufflink out of Ch Jaeva Hells Fury; she will be 12 months old in a month’s time.

A week after The National the Scottish Kennel Club held their May show. Saturday 16th May is Terrier day. This is a comparatively short journey for our only Scottish exhibitor, Joanne Riley; but for the rest of the ‘fraternity’ it is a long haul from the Midlands of several hours, including for our Judge Mrs Sue McCourt. She drew an entry of 19, 9 dogs who were all exhibited, but 4 bitches were absent from the 10 entered.

Diane Jenkins’ kennel was again triumphant, winning three classes, with CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP (Ch Kinsridge Top Gun x Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip) winning Best of Breed and the Bitch CC, and the dog puppy KINSRIDGE BACK CHAT (Ch Kinsridge Cash Back x Ch Kinsridge Gung Ho) repeating his performance when later placed 2nd in the Puppy Group, judged at this show by Mrs E A Macdonald.

But making up yet another champion for the Jaeva kennel was JIFFY GOLDEN GO TO JAEVA (IMP)*. He too followed success last week at The National, with his first ticket won as a puppy at LKA last December from Mr Peter Bakewell. Officially he is still in the ownership of the late Mrs B Phillips & Andrew Gullick who was showing him here.

He was bred by Heléne Ericsson whose Jiffy Kennel has combined with exported Jaeva bloodlines for several years. He is by Ch/Swe Ch Jaeva Made In Gold, a Ch Kinsridge Top Gun son, out of Jiffy Make A Showin, who herself is by Swe Ch Jaeva Credit Crunch out of Jiffy Spellbound (by Jaeva Now Your Talking x Jiffy It’s a Yes). The last Jiffy dog to make a great impact on the breed in England was black & tan Ch/Swe Ch Jiffy The Sky’s The Limit (Imp) in the early 2000s. Andrew also had to return for the second day as the puppy bitch, jointly owned by him and Mrs Kate Tate, JAEVA HELLS FIRE was the day’s winner of the Pup Of The Year competition, but was finally runner up overall.

Ruth Gee won both the Reserve CCs, the Dog RCC adding another such award to WATERCROFT IN A PICKLE, and the Bitch RCC going to WATERCROFT TOP TIPPLE. Their dams are litter sisters, Watercroft Hot Love and Watercroft Hot Cake, but the dog is by Strathinver Smart Enough, and the bitch was sired by Ch Kinsridge Top Gun.

Norfolks were judged by Mr Bill Browne-Cole at The National on Saturday 9th May which was held at the Staffordshire Showground, just outside Stafford.

Once again Diane Jenkins had a very good day as she won Best of Breed and the Bitch CC with CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP (Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip) and her other two entries did her proud too with Ch Kinsridge Back Chat sons KRISMA FLASHBACK TO KINSRIDGE (x Ch Kinsridge Maid In Manhattan for Krisma) getting the DRCC and his half brother KINSRIDGE BACK CHAT (x Ch Kinsridge Gung Ho) winning Best Puppy and going on to be Group 2 in the Puppy Group later in the afternoon under Judge Mrs Wendy Allen.

Winning his second Dog CC was JIFFY GOLDEN GO TO JAEVA (IMP), bred by Helen Ericsson in Sweden, he is by Ch/Swe Ch Jaeva Made In Gold (a Ch K Top Gun son) out of Jiffy Make a Showin, a daughter of Fin/Swe Ch Jaeva Credit Crunch. He is in the ownership of the late Mrs B Phillips and Andrew Gullick. He won his first CC at LKA in December as a puppy, having been born in February 2014.

Cathy Thompson-Morgan won the Bitch RCC with BELLEVILLE SUMMER CRUNCH, who is by Jacquidon Tough As A Nut, another Ch K Top Gun son out of Ch Belleville Honey Nut Crunch, a Ch Belleville Blacklace daughter.

At the second championship show of the new season, the first of the outdoor shows; Norfolks were second in the ring, but it was a difficult day to decide weather-wise, as a shower in the morning sent exhibitors into the wet weather cattle sheds and there the breed was judged by Mr David Winsley. There was an entry of 41 with no absentees amongst the 16 dogs, but of the 25 bitches entered, 10 were absent.

Best of Breed and winning his second CC was Jackie Phillips’ BLAKENS PAY BACK. His dam is the Ch Jaeva For Petes Sake daughter Blakens Party Girl, but his sire Ch Kinsridge Cash Back today had a field day, fathering not only Blakens Pay Back, but also the Best Puppy, KINSRIDGE BACK CHAT (out of Ch Kinsridge Gung Ho), the Limit Dog winner, KRISMA FLASHBACK TO KINSRIDGE, bred by Dot Britten and also the Puppy Bitch winner KINSRIDGE LIL BLACK NUMBER FOR KREATIN, now in the ownership of Christine Hitchen.

Continuing her winning run with her 3rd bitch CC this year was CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP; she is owned and bred by Diane Jenkins out of Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip but sired by Ch Kinsridge Top Gun, who was also responsible for siring the RCC winner, Ruth Gee’s WATERCROFT TOP TIA, out of Watercroft Hot Cake and her year younger full sister, the Limit Bitch winner WATERCROFT TOP TIPPLE.

Unfortunately the entry of 18 dogs and 34 bitches was rather marred by absentees, with 12 dogs and 19 bitches actually shown.

Best in Show and Best Dog was Ruth Gee’s WATERCROFT IN A PICKLE by Strathinver Smart Enough out of Watercroft Hot Love, repeating his success at the Midland Counties Norfolk Terrier Association in March.

Reserve Best In Show, and Best Bitch was Cathy Thompson-Morgan’s BELLEVILLE SUMMER CRUNCH who is sired by Jacquidon Tough As A Nut, a son of Ch Kinsridge Top Gun; her dam is Ch Belleville Honey Nut Crunch, the Crufts 2013 Best in Breed who is a Ch Belleville Blacklace daughter.

Traditionally National Terrier Ch Show is held on the first Saturday in April, this time it coincided with Easter Saturday, the 4th. The breed judge came from Sweden, Mr Dan Ericsson, and he drew an entry of 20 dogs with 6 absent and 28 bitches with 12 absent. Diane Jenkins had a brilliant day as newly crowned Crufts CC winner CH KINSRIDGE TOP TIP added to her total with Best of Breed, but later in the day won the National Terrier Open Show Dog of the Year under Peter Bakewell. She is by Ch Kinsridge Top Gun out of Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip.

The dog CC was a first foot on the ladder for BLAKENS PAY BACK who won from the Junior Class. He faced stiff opposition in the challenge and is owned and bred by Jackie Phillips by Ch Kinsridge Cash Back out of Blakens Party Girl.

The RDCC was a 6th such award for to Ruth Gee’s WATERCROFT IN A PICKLE, by Strathinver Smart Enough out of Watercroft Hot Love, who is just over 2 years old. He won 5 RCCs last year.

The Bitch RCC was a first such award for Cathy Thompson-Morgan’s BELLEVILLE SUMMER CRUNCH, by Jacquidon Tough As A Nut out of her Ch Belleville Honey Nut Crunch.

Best Puppy was Diane Jenkins’ KINSRIDGE BACK CHAT, another red son of Ch Kinsridge Cash Back but out of Ch Kinsridge Gung Ho. He was really going places today, as he was made Puppy Group 3 by Mrs Lesley Crawley, and then won the Dog Puppy Stakes, under Mr Peter Bakewell, and then defeated the winning bitch to become the Pup of the Year finalist from National Terrier. What an achievement.

All entries for Crufts have to qualify by either having gained a Stud Book number or having been placed at Championship shows the previous year. The dates for the various groups rotate, so this year Norfolks were judged on Saturday 5th March at the NEC. The judge for Norfolk Terriers is a Norwich specialist from Sweden, Mrs Renée Sporre-Willes. There was an entry of 31 dogs with just one dog absent, and 44 bitches, but 12 of these were absent and one was withdrawn. There was one dog from Denmark and two bitches from Italy who competed in the classes, plus one German entry. Norfolk and Norwich specialist Martin Phillips was judging the Terrier Group, so no Jaeva was competing today.

Congratulations to Cathy Thompson-Morgan who had a very special day, winning Best of Breed and the Dog CC with

CH BELLEVILLE SEDUCTION. A black & tan dog of nearly 2. years old, he is by Ch/Fin Ch Belleville Burning Passion out of Ch Belleville Intuition. He was the leading winner last year and now has 11 CCs and 10 BOBs to his credit. Cathy also won the Reserve Bitch CC with

CH BELLEVILLE JUST MAGIC, she is by the unshown dog Belleville Shoelace Maker out of Belleville Magic Dice. She also won Best Puppy with her black & tan puppy, BELLEVILLE SCINTILLATION who is by Kreatin He’s No Angel out of Ch Belleville Intuition – thus a half brother to the Best of Breed. Not content with that Cathy also won a large Post Graduate bitch class with BELLEVILLE SUMMER CRUNCH by Jacquidon Tough As A Nut x Ch Belleville Honey Nut Crunch, 2013’s Crufts BOB.

Loud applause went to Diane Jenkins when her red bitch, KINSRIDGE TOP TIP won her crowning third CC*. She is keeping the family tradition going, as her sire, Ch Kinsridge Top Gun won the DCC here at Crufts in 2011 and her full sister, Ch Kinsridge Top Score, the bitch ticket here in 2012. That gives a total of five champions so far for her dam, Am Ch Kinsridge Hot Tip, from just the 7 puppies she has bred. Her genes continued with winning grandchildren too, sired by her son Ch Kinsridge Cash Back in KRISMA FLASHBACK TO KINSRIDGE and BLAKENS PAY BACK

Jackie Phillips won the Reserve Dog CC with CH BLAKENS THE KANDY MAN KAN who is by Brenin Bazaar at Kinsridge out of Ch Vichea Pick And Mix. He was 2nd in the Open Dog class, but Blakens were also well to the fore in the Junior Dog class with BLAKENS PAY BACK and in the Post Graduate dog class with BLAKENS I LOOK TO YOU, who is now in the ownership of Mary Atkinson.
