Discover Dogs November 2006
Thanks go to the breed enthusiasts whose Norfolks enchanted the visitors at Discover Dogs held at Earls Court, London. The breed booth was packed all day every day, just as it usually is, and a lot of information was imparted.
Newcomers to the Discover Dogs experience and amazed at the crowds and the intensity of the questioning, were Andre Hess and John Higgins. Their Norfolks, Babette and Gog were overwhelmed with the hours of cuddles they received!
Old hands Gilean White, Sue Inman and Pam Mobsby were there early on Saturday and later on, Margaret and Dennis Ruffles and Carolyn Hoare with Teddy and Lulu. Carolyn has been on TV in Super Vets with her Bichon, Louis, who had successful open heart surgery – the Norfolks were filmed when they visited him in hospital.
On Sunday Anne Blackman and Cherry Stones brought Tansy and Jazzy and later Nabuko Matsumura held the fort with Diamond and our Kevin joined in the fun with his wagging tail.
The Main Ring at Discover Dogs is the scene of many splendid events; one of which was the Rescued Dogs Agility that demonstrates how far Agility is progressing from the old idea of amazingly swift Border Collies, to an activity that we could all do. A friend of ours from Ireland ran her very novice rescued greyhound and another star was a tiny Chihuahua who charged around like a trooper – hardly a dry eye in the house.
All in all it’s good fun, though hard work and we thank the sponsors, Royal Canin, for some nice handouts and The Kennel Club for their innovative ideas.
The judges of ‘Best Booth at Discover Dogs’ complimented us on our information and communication skills plus the attractiveness of the decoration and awarded us Highly Commended, which was 6th prize all breeds – well done to everyone.
